I just got back from Washington Business Week at PLU! It was an amazing experience. It is a program every student should go through. For those who do now know about Washington Business Week it is a lot like going to camp, but way more fun. You are broken in to companies with about 10 to 14 people in them. Together you run a business simulation and create a product to see to investors. At the end of the week you have listened to 8 speakers and spent hours team building!
I’m all for building tankers in the United States of America! In fact we need all the jobs we can get. With that said if Northrop Grumman, who was given the 40 billion dollar contact to build refueling tankers for the United States Air Force, is going to make a better product for our tax dollars… then let them build them! Boeing is getting special treatment that they do not deserve. This breaks the very rules of free enterprise. The Air Force should pick the company that makes the best product! This is a clear cut decision and the Air Force made it. I think our law makers has more important things to take care of!
This is one of the only situations in the world today where diplomacy was tried and it worked (or seems to have worked). Maybe other countries will follow; maybe Iran.
